Hallett Corner Workers

The Flag, Communications & Safety Workers
&
Emergency Crew

Hallett Corner WorkersIt seems that most agree auto race workers are essential to more enjoyable, more efficient, and safer auto racing. Without their dedication and skills, safe racing would be unlikely. This is an important point: a person does not need to be a driver/rider to become involved in racing. Ask around; someone you know is involved in racing in some form, as a worker, mechanic, engine builder, competitor, or other specialty. Depending on the part of America they inhabit, dedicated teams of these workers are referred to as corner workers, corner crews, turn marshals, corner marshals, track safety workers, flagging and communications workers, and by other titles.

Volunteer workers are not organized by gender. Men and women work together to meet whatever need manifests itself, getting dirty digging wrecked cars out of barriers, rebuilding tire walls, fighting fires and keeping the event organized and operating. To see a complete explanation and better understanding of the specific requirements, responsibilities, duties and expectations of cornerworking, visit this excellent page at Wikipedia.

Hallett Corner WorkersSome of Hallett's Cornerworkers only work a few events each season. They use the excuse that they have real jobs, or some other nonsense, but many work every available opportunity. ( See Schedule ) Like anything else, there is some turnover of staff here due to any number of circumstances, but some have been around Hallett on and off for more than 15 years. Some workers make use of the RV hook ups on premise and some commute.
