I'm Tim Turner and was born in Orange California. Thankfully, my family moved us away from the Left Coast when I was about three. I was raised and went to school in Tulsa, worked (and played) until about 1986, then moved to Merritt Island, Florida, where I tried to work and live for seven years. I leased a home sharing two and a half acres with one other house smack-dab in the middle of 75 acres of orange and grapefruit trees on a National Wildlife Refuge, crunched between the Indian and Banana Rivers, and 10 minutes to the beach. The orange groves are now Apartments and Condos.
I worked for a while at Bill Wait's Travel World in Vero Beach, 70 miles down I-95 every morning. Later, Giant Recreation World of Brevard opened and I began working there selling and renting RV's. I managed the rental department there for a while and initiated a contract with the U.S. Coast Guard to assist NASA with added security during their STS Mission launches. NASA has an AWESOME web site by the way, plan on spending some time there. Especially when we near a shuttle launch. During a launch, the entire area, including the causeways shut down to watch. You stand in awe as the ground vibrates and the shuttle blares toward the sky. My home was about 15 to 20 miles south of the launch pad and the night launches lit up my yard like daylight and rumbled my windows. It was a terrific thing to witness each time.
Anyway, I didn't like working seven days a week and I wasn't real happy with their high-pressure sales system. Although I was selling RV Units, I wasn't selling them correctly. Besides, I had several friends who were in management positions with Premier Cruise Lines and someone had to help them take advantage of free Management cruises at their disposal at least once per month. It's difficult to fit in a work schedule when you can be sipping cocktails and listening to live Raggae (Open the link and leave it playing in the background as you read on, it'll give you the feeling!) on a boat that dines 800 at a time and your glass is never half empty. Or sitting at the Oh Shucks Oyster Bar at the famous Cocoa Beach Pier sipping Margaritas and watching the bikini contest. When you didn't want to go to the beach, ( huh? ) there was always the greatest Buffalo Style Hot Wings and coldest Bud Light on the coast at Normans in Cocoa. You probably wonder why I came back, as do I sometimes, but I do love Oklahoma, and now reside in Oklahoma City.
I WAS not a race fan, ( Although I once drove in a destruction derby in Murfreesboro, Arkansas....does that count? ) but was introduced to Hallett by Ken, who worked Central Control. Although I had lived in Oklahoma for years, I didn't recall ever having heard of Hallett. Now, I usually can be found at Station 10, under the shade tree, as you pass the inside gate.
I designed, published and maintain this web site for all the corner workers at Hallett, to allow others a better insight. Many racers, nor their crews, ever actually meet many of the workers. Many of the Hallett corner workers have become almost like family to me during the few years that I have been working here. I now am familiar with the term, "Racing Family".

This image reminded me a lot of my Jr. High School Speech & Drama Class teacher. Rumor had it she was an X-Bubble Dancer. I never could seem to misbehave just enough to get a spanking in that class...although I tried.

While I have been an entrepreneur, of sorts, most of my life, I'm currently, technically unemployed. I work race events and selectively design and maintain very affordable, yet extremely effective web sites when I can acquire them. I have pretty extensive experience on computer software too, as I do in most office work and retail sales, so if you know of someone needing a good part-time helper, point them my way. It's also hard to find a job to maneuver around the race schedule!
My son Brad works at the track also, his son Geoffrey lives in Stillwater with his wife and two daughters. My Mom lives in Garland, ( Who's web page I designed, naturally. ) Texas with my only sibling, Fred.
If your looking for someone to design and implement a web site for you, feel free to see more samples of my work, visit mytimbuk2.com.
